The UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, one of the nation’s largest and most renowned university-affiliated psychiatric hospitals, helped pioneer the field of forensic psychiatry and psychology in 1974.

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs ( CACREP ), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following programs in the Department of Analytical, Physical and Social Sciences at Carlow University: Addictions Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling through 2029.
